1. What resolution are the final images I will receive?

All photography is provided digitally at one of the following resolutions. If you have specific requirements we can provide other resolutions as well:

High Resolution: Appr. 3200 x 2400 / 11"x8" @ 300 DPI / 25MB RGB TIFF (may be slightly smaller in some cases)
Standard Print: Appr. 1600 x 1200 / 5"x4" @ 300 DPI / 6MB RGB TIFF
Web Use: Appr. 800 x 600 / 72 DPI / 1.5MB RGB TIFF or JPG

2. What if I decide later that I want higher-resolution images than I originally ordered?

Depending on the specifications of your original order, we may maintain an archive of original high-resolution photographs. If this is the case, we are able to offer a discount on your follow-up order. If you think there is a chance you'll be making a reorder at a higher resolution, please let us know at the time of your original order to ensure we appropriately archive the shots from your photo session.

3. Other photography projects I've worked on have required payment of special usage fees based on the placement of images, how do you control rights to our product images?

Upon completion of your project and final payment of your order, all rights of ownership will transfer to you. You are free to do as you wish with the images of your product, including reselling the images or transferring the copyright ownership. If you'd prefer to use your own rights-transfer documents, we'll work to accommodate your request.

4. I require my photography be provided as a transparency or in slide format, do you offer these services?

Our photography workflow is completely digital. If for some reason you require film formats, there are service bureaus in most areas or online that offer digital to film transfer. The resolution we provide is adequate for these transfers. Most projects specify digital, if someone has requested that you provide images on transparency, we recommend you verify that they are unable to accept digital formats.

5. I'm pitching a project to a potential client and need images for comping purposes. Would you be willing to take some spec shots with the understanding that future business will be sent to you?

Because of our aggressive pricing structure, we are unable to offer further discounts for new business or spec photography for comping. We are sensitive to the limited budget you face when proposing new projects to clients and offer some alternatives. Please contact us to discuss deferred payment options that may help you spread out the expense of finding new work.

6. How large an object can you photograph?

Though we can photograph larger objects, shipping them can become cost prohibitive. As a general rule, we specialize in objects that are easily shipped through standard carriers. Larger objects, or objects that require special handling may result in handling surcharges. You'll be notified of these charges before they are incurred. If you think your product may be larger than standard, please contact us prior to shipping.

7. Do you offer background color options?

Though we dissuade our customers from using props, backdrops or any other peripheral treatments, we do have some options available to help you match your product to the environment it will be used in.

Standard Artifactor backgrounds include the following colors. If you have a specific request or requirement please let us know.

8. How long does it take to complete an order?

Most orders average about 1 week. Time can vary depending on the amount of touch-up work required, size of the order, and current production volume. If you have special deadlines, please let us know in advance. Rush charges may apply for rapid turn-around.

9. I'd prefer to do any color corrections or image editing myself, can you offer a discount?

Yes. By taking the image straight from the camera, we can offer a flat discount of 20% off all of our pricing. A $75.00 per order minimum still applies.

10. Can you provide images in formats other than TIFF or JPG, or in dimensions other than those listed?

11. Rather than downloading the final images, can you provide them on CD or DVD?
